What to send us with an India instruction
A checklist by matter type. Send what you have — the gaps get identified on intake, not at the deadline.
Draft — pending professional review. This piece has not yet been cleared by a named professional. Passages marked for verification contain legal specifics that must be confirmed against current law before publication.
You do not need a complete package to instruct. Send the instruction with what you have; the requirements are checked on arrival and anything missing comes back as one consolidated request rather than a series of separate emails.
Every instruction
- Your client or matter reference, so reporting comes back in your structure
- The action required, in plain terms
- Any deadline you are already aware of
- Any standing instruction that should apply to this matter or portfolio
Patent filings
- PCT or priority application reference
- Applicant and inventor details as they should appear on the Indian record
- Specification and claims, or confirmation the priority text is to be used
- Any known ownership, assignment or formalities issue
Trademark filings
- The mark in the exact form to be filed
- Applicant name, address and constitution
- Goods or services, or a description we can classify
- Use position, and date of first use if applicable
Design filings
- Representations or drawings
- The article to which the design is applied
- Applicant details
- Any prior disclosure or publication
Prosecution matters
- The office communication itself
- Your instructions, or a note that you want a recommendation first
- Any commercial constraint that should shape the response
If you would rather not assemble any of this, send the office communication and your reference. The rest is requested in one message.
